STS contracts with companies, both large and small, to act as their company “Safety Officer.” In this role, STS works to increase safety and reduce workplace accidents and injuries and the costs associated with them. The costs associated with accidents are very high including: workers comp insurance, legal settlements, production time lost, damage to and loss of equipment and new hire training costs. Substantially reducing these costs make can help make a firm more profitable and more competitive in the marketplace.
STS serves as an outside vendor and is paid an affordable fee for its services, so a company does not have to be concerned with paying full-time employee benefits (medical insurance, retirement, etc).
More importantly, as an outside consultant STS is not subject to internal "company politics" and is better able to objectively evaluate situations and propose solutions. There are many situations where an internal safety officer, as an employee, is hampered because of past alliances and perceptions.
Acting as a company Safety Officer, STS provides the following:
1. Evaluate current production processes and make recommendations for changes.
2. Review accident and injury records.
3. Create a comprehensive safety program that would provide:
a. Setting up initial training procedures
b. Working with insurance providers to reduce costs
c. Safety training for all employees
d. Safety training for supervisors
e. Review of all PPE being used and changes
f. Formulate and train a safety committee
g. Review company compliance with OSHA regulations.
h. Regularly monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and make any needed changes
i. Provide copies of an approved safety manual
j. Provide monthly safety program reports to top management
